It was so much fun working together with some of my favorite wedding professionals for this gorgeous styled photo shoot at Salted Root Farm in Marshfield, Massachusetts. Jill from Beach Plum Florals had this beautiful vision and it all came to life perfectly!
The theme was “Greenery” which was listed as the color of the year. The setting was complete with a tablescape on a long farm table with a beautiful hanging green installation over head and low laying greens and silk linens on the table. The place setting consisted of wooden shingles with menu cards and greens at each place setting. Gold accents and lots of candle votives. A handcrafted escort card display (clothesline style on a wooden wall) with greens and cards. A gorgeous naked wedding cake accented with 24k gold flakes by Delicious Desserts. Our model bride with an all green bouquet, cascading designed by Beach Plum Florals and a beautiful Boho style wedding dress by Flair.
I was so excited to have some snow for the shoot! Salted Root farm was beautiful and Jill’s beautiful horse Janie loved the camera! Wait till you see her smiling along!!! Enjoy this preview / behind the scenes with Shoreshotz, Harborview Studios, Beach Plum Florals, Delicious Desserts and lots more amazing wedding professionals. Jenny has been coming to the Cape with her family her entire life and it’s her favorite place on earth! Travis quickly embraced the Cape as well as their special summer retreat early on in their relationship and they’ve been enjoying it together for the past six years. Jenny spent five fun summers working at Buffy’s Ice Cream on Main St. in Chatham and would always pass the Chatham Bars Inn on her way to/from work and think “some day….”. Well, that “some day” started to become a “some day soon” after Travis and Jenny got engaged in Boston on February 21, 2015. One of the first things they did was make an appointment to check out CBI and a month later, they had August 27, 2016 reserved for their wedding! A true childhood dream became a reality!
Here are some of my favorites from Jenny and Travis beautiful Chatham Bars Inn Cape Cod wedding!
I asked Jenny what she loved about CBI and about some of the best memories of her day:
SO many favorite things about CBI! It’s just so beautiful and picturesque all-around. We loved how we could have the ceremony on the lawn overlooking the beach and then cocktail hour and the reception in the Boat House and Beach House respectively, both buildings that opened up to the outdoors and sand. We even utilized the fire pit for roasting marshmallows and making s’mores at the end of the night – so fun! There was this overarching classic and chic but beach vibe that made our day totally us and perfect!
Our band was SUCH a hit!! One of the funnest parts of wedding planning was going to wedding band showcases with Travis and friends. We must have seen Groove Alliance play at least three separate times, even though we knew we wanted them after the first time! They are so energetic and fun – we had a great time being called up front with the band and singing and dancing along! And our guests haven’t stopped raving about how amazing they were!
In the Sawin family, we have this hilarious tradition of singing and “dancing” along to Elvira at all family weddings. And by dancing, I mean crazy leg lifts and do-si-do-ing around the dance floor! It was all started by my Uncle Scott and has been going strong since his 1996 wedding! This was our first official song to open up the dance floor, and I have to say – no one left the floor after it!
My dear Grandma Kitty passed away one week before the wedding. I had her wedding band – which she had never taken off her finger in 70+ years – professionally cleaned so it sparkled and I kept it with me all day long – tied into my bouquet for photos and the ceremony and then tied onto my wrist for the reception. She and I were very close and I was honored to have a special symbol from her with me all day long. I truly believe she contributed in spirit to our wedding day being absolutely perfect and far exceeding our expectations!
My mom has a beautiful voice and I always knew I wanted her to sing during our wedding, if she was up to it! Well, she agreed and we kept it a big secret. Everyone was blown away by the personalized touch of having her sing. And of course she was flawless and amazing, as usual!
Our ceremony was completely customized to us. In fact, we helped our officiant write it! It was so special and meaningful.
Customized program fans for the ceremony – for guests to fan themselves with in case they got too warm!
I loved our place cards – we had names and table assignments tied to individual starfish which were placed together in a sand box. It was a labor of love tying all of those ribbons and I have my mom and mother-in-law to thank for their patience and hard work during our pre-wedding arts and crafts sessions!
Our table names were based on Cape Cod town names – I just loved how we went all out with the Cape theme! Travis grew up in Cape Elizabeth, Maine which actually has a very similar feel and vibe to it as Cape Cod. There are even a few town names that overlap from Maine to the Cape (Yarmouth and Falmouth) so we made sure to seat the Mainers at those tables! In fact, Travis’ mom grew up in Yarmouth, ME so you can guess what table she was at!
We wanted to do something different for our guest book and Travis came up with this great idea to have guests sign around a blown-up photo of CBI. Well, of course I thought we should be in this photo too, so we had a photo shoot with my mom as our photographer one gorgeous day over the summer at CBI. A little Photoshop magic later (to remove extra people), we had a fantastic shot of us standing in front of the iconic CBI main inn!
Bridesmaids details: The girls wore a gorgeous powder blue color otherwise known as “North Carolina Blue” in the groom’s vocabulary! The flowers includes blues, pinks, purples, and whites – simply stunning! I gave the girls (including the moms) gold bracelets which included a pearl, their first initial and the infinity symbol to represent our everlasting friendship and love for one another. I purchased one for myself too and will always think of our special bond and our wedding day when I wear it! Our favors were s’mores, which we packaged up with love and encouraged guests to use with our fire pits during the reception.

Elizabeth and Peter were married on October 15, 2016 at St. Patricks Church in Falmouth, MA. Taylor and Mark were married on Cape Cod at the Beautiful New Seabury Country Club on July 30, 2016. The wedding party got ready in the Captains Quarters condos, beautiful and nice and close to the country club. Taylor was stunning in her Matthew Christopher wedding gown and the bridesmaids looked perfect in their JCrew dresses in Navy & Green. The bride hand made the custom Cape Cod wedding invitations and save the dates, along with the signs, card box, message in a bottle and so many adorable details! The centerpieces were designed by the bride and custom made by her and her friends. Wedding planning and coordination by the amazing Wilma Lopez of New Seabury. The wedding flowers were gorgeous by Beach Plum Florals. Faith Lavendar officiated the beautiful marriage ceremony on the front lawn of New Seabury Country Club. Enjoy this little look into their perfect Cape Cod wedding day! Congratulations Tay & Mark!!! xoxoxo
