Jenny has been coming to the Cape with her family her entire life and it’s her favorite place on earth! Travis quickly embraced the Cape as well as their special summer retreat early on in their relationship and they’ve been enjoying it together for the past six years. Jenny spent five fun summers working at Buffy’s Ice Cream on Main St. in Chatham and would always pass the Chatham Bars Inn on her way to/from work and think “some day….”. Well, that “some day” started to become a “some day soon” after Travis and Jenny got engaged in Boston on February 21, 2015. One of the first things they did was make an appointment to check out CBI and a month later, they had August 27, 2016 reserved for their wedding! A true childhood dream became a reality!
Here are some of my favorites from Jenny and Travis beautiful Chatham Bars Inn Cape Cod wedding!
I asked Jenny what she loved about CBI and about some of the best memories of her day:
SO many favorite things about CBI! It’s just so beautiful and picturesque all-around. We loved how we could have the ceremony on the lawn overlooking the beach and then cocktail hour and the reception in the Boat House and Beach House respectively, both buildings that opened up to the outdoors and sand. We even utilized the fire pit for roasting marshmallows and making s’mores at the end of the night – so fun! There was this overarching classic and chic but beach vibe that made our day totally us and perfect!
Our band was SUCH a hit!! One of the funnest parts of wedding planning was going to wedding band showcases with Travis and friends. We must have seen Groove Alliance play at least three separate times, even though we knew we wanted them after the first time! They are so energetic and fun – we had a great time being called up front with the band and singing and dancing along! And our guests haven’t stopped raving about how amazing they were!
In the Sawin family, we have this hilarious tradition of singing and “dancing” along to Elvira at all family weddings. And by dancing, I mean crazy leg lifts and do-si-do-ing around the dance floor! It was all started by my Uncle Scott and has been going strong since his 1996 wedding! This was our first official song to open up the dance floor, and I have to say – no one left the floor after it!
My dear Grandma Kitty passed away one week before the wedding. I had her wedding band – which she had never taken off her finger in 70+ years – professionally cleaned so it sparkled and I kept it with me all day long – tied into my bouquet for photos and the ceremony and then tied onto my wrist for the reception. She and I were very close and I was honored to have a special symbol from her with me all day long. I truly believe she contributed in spirit to our wedding day being absolutely perfect and far exceeding our expectations!
My mom has a beautiful voice and I always knew I wanted her to sing during our wedding, if she was up to it! Well, she agreed and we kept it a big secret. Everyone was blown away by the personalized touch of having her sing. And of course she was flawless and amazing, as usual!
Our ceremony was completely customized to us. In fact, we helped our officiant write it! It was so special and meaningful.
Customized program fans for the ceremony – for guests to fan themselves with in case they got too warm!
I loved our place cards – we had names and table assignments tied to individual starfish which were placed together in a sand box. It was a labor of love tying all of those ribbons and I have my mom and mother-in-law to thank for their patience and hard work during our pre-wedding arts and crafts sessions!
Our table names were based on Cape Cod town names – I just loved how we went all out with the Cape theme! Travis grew up in Cape Elizabeth, Maine which actually has a very similar feel and vibe to it as Cape Cod. There are even a few town names that overlap from Maine to the Cape (Yarmouth and Falmouth) so we made sure to seat the Mainers at those tables! In fact, Travis’ mom grew up in Yarmouth, ME so you can guess what table she was at!
We wanted to do something different for our guest book and Travis came up with this great idea to have guests sign around a blown-up photo of CBI. Well, of course I thought we should be in this photo too, so we had a photo shoot with my mom as our photographer one gorgeous day over the summer at CBI. A little Photoshop magic later (to remove extra people), we had a fantastic shot of us standing in front of the iconic CBI main inn!
Bridesmaids details: The girls wore a gorgeous powder blue color otherwise known as “North Carolina Blue” in the groom’s vocabulary! The flowers includes blues, pinks, purples, and whites – simply stunning! I gave the girls (including the moms) gold bracelets which included a pearl, their first initial and the infinity symbol to represent our everlasting friendship and love for one another. I purchased one for myself too and will always think of our special bond and our wedding day when I wear it! Our favors were s’mores, which we packaged up with love and encouraged guests to use with our fire pits during the reception.

Kaitlin and Alexander were married this weekend in the beautiful Cape Cod town of Chatham Massachusetts. It was a destination wedding for the couple and their family & friends at the couples favorite place, right down the street from the bride’s family summer home. The wedding ceremony was at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church on Main Street in Chatham followed by a dream wedding reception at the gorgeous seaside Chatham Bars Inn. Guests enjoyed the beautiful beach and view from the Chatham Bars Inn Boat House complete with a classic Cape Cod raw bar and cocktails. It was a beautiful day, no rain but we had some charming Chatham fog that made for some beautiful photos on the beach! When it cleared a little the bride was so excited and made a run for the water to capture some gorgeous wedding photos with the beautiful boats and natural backdrop that Chatham Bars Inn offers. Kaitlin and Alex took a little cruise around on the Bartender, one of Chatham Bars Inn boats. After family and wedding party photos the party started at the Beach House Grill with the awesome wedding band The Sultans of Swing. Kaitlin had the most beautiful details for her wedding, the tables and setting were incredible, rentals by Be Our Guest and the beautiful wedding florals were from Patrice Milley. The happiness of the families, the fun wedding party, the super sweet Bride and Groom…..the beautiful details from the invitations to the Chatham Candy Manor favors, everything about this wedding day was just perfect. I had the pleasure of getting to know Tammy and Jim when I photographed their marriage vows on Saturday April 16 at the beautiful Chatham Bars Inn. Tammy was just stunning in her BHLDN wedding gown, this dress was made for her! It was a very windy spring day on the beach so the wedding ceremony was held in the Boat House at Chatham Bars Inn. Their close friend Eric officiated the wedding ceremony which was so personal and touching, there was not a dry eye in the boathouse. Listening to the story of their love and friendship was beautiful, I felt as though I had known them forever and knew without a doubt life has happened just as it was meant for this wonderful couple and their family. Their love is beautiful and such a wonderful example of true love and friendship. Tammy’s sister sang such a lovely song for the couple after their vows, she has an amazing voice! Tammy and Jim are both true Cape Codders, so naturally they braved the cold and wind for a little walk on the beach after the ceremony. Family photos were taken in the boathouse and then the celebration moved to the Beach House Grill. Tammy and Jim had such a fun first dance, be sure to scroll to the end to see! Congratulations Tammy and Jim! I enjoyed getting to know you guys and witnessing the love you share. I hope to see you both again this summer on Cape Cod!
Michelle & Donny were married October 3, 2014 at the gorgeous Chatham Bars Inn. Cape Cod and Chatham Bars Inn was the perfect wedding location for Donny & Michelle, they share a love for the ocean and boating, and the Cape just holds a special place in their hearts. They have spent much time over the years together on Cape Cod, it’s a second home for them. Michelle poured her heart into planning every detail of her nautical themed wedding….and wow, it was just perfect! Even a little rain did not put a damper on this celebration! Michelle and her bridesmaids, family, wedding part & groom (of course) were just full of smiles and laughter all day! When it sprinkled we ran for cover for a few minutes…but then we all said…it’s just sprinkling …. it’s all good! I told Michelle the sun is nice, but a cloudy day helps to capture beautiful wedding photos! I don’t think this day could have been more perfect! Michelle + Donny & Cali too (their Golden Retriever) congratulations!!! I am so happy that you chose me to capture your wedding day & even happier to have gotten to know you guys!!! Can’t wait to see you again soon! xoxoxo
