From the Bride: There is something about Cape Cod that is so beautiful and timeless, that really makes it a perfect place to have a wedding.  It’s been a great spot to us, vacationing with family and friends, so we found it an ideal place to start our new life as husband and wife.

Our ceremony took place at Union Chapel in Hyannis Port.  This picturesque chapel provided us with a simple, yet classic Cape Cod feel during our ceremony.  The natural cedar shingles give the chapel a weathered, nautical look that fit our theme perfectly.  The only decorations were my handmade pew bows, which were white star fish, tied with silver and navy blue ribbon.  During the ceremony, Matt and I did a sand ritual where we combined sand (each from our childhood beach) from personalized “yours” & “mine” mason jars, into a mason jar labeled “ours.”

Following the ceremony, Matt and I took off in a 1929 Excalibur for photos at the Hyannis Port Yacht Club.  We were blessed with a beautiful day and had the sea and sand as our backdrop.

I am an event planner, so I enjoyed the wedding planning process and I did a lot of DIY details. I spent months designing our invitations, assembling them with card stock, and tying each and every ribbon on them. From the starfish seating cards, to the “Mr” & “Mrs” chair signs, and the lighthouse table numbers, everything was handmade by us which really personalized our day! My favorite DIY project was the candy buffet, which featured our favorite candy from Cape Cod penny candy stores.

Family, friends, and having fun were most important to us when it came to our wedding.  We selected a reception venue that not only fit our budget, but we didn’t want our guests to worry about where to stay afterwards.  The Resort and Conference Center at Hyannis was the perfect place for our guests to unwind and enjoy the party. When it was over they just had to walk downstairs to their hotel room!
